Setting Up Good Images in Your Blog
Quite obviously, probably the most crucial aspect of designing a successful online blog site is the uploading and implementation of pictures. These various images have an enormous effect on the visual appearance of the blog site and will appeal to more visitors to the information that is put on it. Setting up images on your blog posts is a crucial step in the web site toward success. There only exists about two types of pictures that blog designers utilize to help build up the success of their blog posts. The first kind of image that people use on a blog is an image that is used to design the actual web site. Design images are used as a part of the background, toolbars, and headers of the web page and greatly increase the overall appearance of the site that people want to visit.
The other type of picture that is utilized on web sites is a picture that a blog creator publishes as part of the actual text or information that visitors want to see. These kinds of images are placed on the blog posts as a way of catering to what Internet surfers wants to see and know about. Web site creators often use images to blend in with the informational text that is constantly published on the web page. Even before you place any type of picture on your blog site, you need to choose some type of image editing software that will help you change the images according to your sites needs. One of the best software programs that is used for editing images is called Adobe Photoshop, which has all the tools you need but does cost quite a bit of money. If you are a professional web page designer or have a blog that has become very popular and needs constant high quality images then this particular program would be a great priority for you to have. There do exist several alternative picture computer programs that are cheaper and available to designers who have just recently created a blog and do not have a lot of money to get the more advanced image software. Most computers and laptops that you buy today have image editing software already built into them and require no cost at all.
If you are an amateur blogger then you can simply use these built in image programs to help with the editing and publication of your blogs pictures. Once you have chosen an effective picture editing program, you should then think about how you will be able to post the images to your blog site. In many cases, how you post pictures depends on the type of host site that your blog belongs to. Most host sites allow you to simply upload your images to the web page and includes a little bit of software that helps you place the pictures in the correct positions and order. If you are so lucky to belong to your own host site, then you need to educate yourself about the computer programming code that allows you to publish pictures on the blog.
What is in a Domain Name?
A domain name -- Shakespeare once asked a simple question: "What's in a name?" This article will attempt to answer the above question as far as your website is concerned. You will discover that quite a lot is at stake when it comes to a name.
A domain name is the name (usually in English) which your site will go by on the internet. This name is associated with an IP address as well, since computers and network infrastructure use these numeric addresses to locate your site -- the domain name primarily purpose is to help humans to find your site.
Surprise! Do you know that having a domain name for your website is not a requirement? In contrary having an IP address is a necessity, since that's how computers will find you on the web. Having only an IP address for your site can make it difficult (to say the least) for web surfers to find your site, however.
During the early development of the internet, domain names were chosen with the goal of making it easier for people to remember the name of your site, because it was important for users to be able to type that name into their web browser. Nowadays thought with search engines, bookmarking and social media being much more useful, it is becoming less important for surfer to memorize a name.
Let me be quick to point out that however, from the standpoint of marketing it is still a good idea to have a memorable domain name for your site, for instance, greatmaps.com is better than fantasticcarstographicofrepresentationandgeographicalfact.com. While they are both descriptive of your business, it's without reasonable doubt that one is far easier to remember than the other.
Remember also that the name you decide on for your site can have a big impact on how much traffic you'll receive and how long this will take to begin. If you have a great website or great products and/or services, the word will get around eventually. Having a good name will make things much easier for you for instance like them or not, Google chose well for their name.
Given that there are literally millions of websites out there, you may not be able to get your first choice for a domain name. You might have to try a few names to find one which you want. Since there are simply so many websites, it is unlikely that you will get your first choice of domain names; but domains do expire, so you may be able to obtain the name you want at a later date if it is not available now.
You can also choose an expired domain names service or software that will search for and alert you whenever a good name becomes available. All you simply do is ask for the domain name you want and when this name becomes available you will be notified and given the opportunity to purchase it. Always remember though that it's good to have a good name but don't fret too much if it's taken.
Here is something to think about, suppose Google as we know it today as a top notch search engine was not performing well, their name would still be short and memorable, but who cares about a non performer and run down company? A good name matters a lot but to be effective the name must be backed up with something remarkable.
History Birth of Cell Phone TV
In 2005, multimedia cell phones which provide the streaming video necessary for viewing television became a market force. More than a year later, the use of cell phone TV is still quite small but definitely growing in the US. We now see individuals in coffee shops and subways, sitting mesmerized by their tiny 3" screens while the remainder of the population wonders if watching TV on their cell phone is for them.
What Is the Video Quality Like With Cell Phone TV?
For anyone considering the purchase of a multimedia phone to view TV, it is important to understand that the technology is still new and under development. The quality of the video is still evolving. The video on cell phones that is currently offered is not always fluid and sound can sometimes be muffled. However, for those investigating the service it's important to understand that the quality can vary quite a bit by carrier as they utilize different digital technology to deliver the signal. Therefore, consumers should be sure to test out the different carriers before making a choice. As cellular carriers continue to upgrade technologies in the coming years, it would be logical to assume that video quality on cell phones will be greatly enhanced as well...
What Is It Like Watching TV on a Small Cell Phone Screen?
For many people, one of the primary questions about the ability to actually enjoy watching cell phone TV, is in regards to viewing entertainment and news on a tiny 2" or 3" screen. There are a couple of differences with cell phone TV that make the tiny screen quite tolerable although not a replacement for the great room TV. First, is the simple fact that users view the screen from only 10-12" inches versus from 10 feet or so. The difference in viewing distance makes the tiny screen much more comfortable than many people would imagine.
Another difference with watching cell phone TV is that the programming being viewed generally is not full length episodes. Much of what viewers see with cell phone TV are mini-television episodes, original content developed specifically for cell phones and other mobile devices. This prevents users from having to sit for extended periods of time holding their cell phone within 12 inches of their face. The brief episodes can provide good entertainment or information that fits nicely within a short subway commute or break in the work day.
What Are the Cost Consideration of Cell Phone TV?
Another question that often arises is the cost of cell phone TV. Obviously cell phones that support yet another feature generally have a higher price tag although certainly free multimedia phones can be had when committing to a 1 or 2 year cellular plan. Another cost factor is battery life. Obtaining good video consumes a lot of battery power. Manufacturers are of course continuing efforts to develop energy sources that can support the multitude of functions on our multi-tasking cell phones so this should become less of an issue over time. The other cost inherent with cell phone TV is the charge associated with the programming offered or the data plan for that carrier. Most data plans will run between $10 and $25 per month in addition to the regular calling plan however the time spent watching the video usually does not count against the air time allotted within the calling plan.
What Programming Is Available on Cell Phone TV?
Many cellular providers now offer some form of cell phone TV, such as Verizon's Vcast, but there are other options as well. One service that is currently popular is MobiTV which offers viewers channels such as MSNBC, ABC News Now, CNN, Fox News, Fox Sports, ESPN, 3GTV, NBC Mobile, CNBC, CSPAN, TLC, The Discovery Channel, Weather Channel, music videos and more.
Currently, cell phone TV can offer a good diversion during long waits and can keep busy people up-to-date. As with all technology, advancements with the video quality will continue in the coming years but this is the birth of cell phone TV and you are there.
GPS PDAs
A GPS is a Global Positioning System which is basically a device which shows your current location on Earth to a high degree of accuracy. These devices are mainly used commercially as high-end maps which offer detailed directions to a plethora of locations in the country. The Garmin Nuvi 350 is an example of such a GPS device. Finding accommodation, food outlets, gas stations, and more is very easy with this device because it contains maps and points of interest.
The PDA can be described as a tiny personal computer that fits into your pocket. Nowadays, PDAs have gained audio capabilities which allow them to be used as mobile phones too - an extremely popular example is the BlackBerry, owned by RIM. Celebrities always boost the popularity and sales of merchandise and the Blackberry is no exception.
Therefore, GPS PDAs are PDAs which have the added function of being GPS enabled. This means that one can find maps and directions on them too. An example of this device may be the Garmin iQue300 which holds the honor of being the first PDA to include GPS technology. Its GPS system was a Garmin and its PDA Operating System was that of Palm OS 5. A bonus feature in this product was that it could locate contacts stored on the phone through voice activation.
There will probably always be a debate on which is more preferable. Are a GPS and PDA as two separate gadgets a wiser choice or should one opt for a converged device?
Regardless of your choice, there are always benefits and drawbacks. Two separate devices will definitely work out to be more expensive. Also, while hiking or pursuing any activity outside the car, a bulky GPS will be more of a problem than a help (unless you buy a GPS suited for the outdoors, which in turn will be more expensive). If you want to use GPS regularly, you'll be better off with one GPS PDA device. On the other hand, a converged unit may be more distracting for the user especially if he is using the phone and the GPS at the same time. A PDA also have a tiny screen, which could make reading the map quite cumbersome.
Your needs will drive your choice. If you are technophobic and want to keep using your PDA as a minicomputer and a phone; separate units are better for you. But if you want to go easy on your wallet and don't mind a little more complications, then a GPS PDA phone maybe your best choice.
Using Social Bookmarking Sites to Drive Traffic to Your Site
If you're looking for new ways to drive traffic to your web site, using social bookmarking sites may be your answer.
Social bookmarking is a system or network where members of the network are able to list or bookmark web sites that they like for various reasons. The members list is accessible by other members of the network. In addition, lists of sites can be created 'on the fly' by typing in keywords, known as tags in the world of social bookmarking. They may also find lists of sites based on categories, topics, or even random selections.
Many things can be bookmarked and accessed through social bookmarking, including web pages, feeds, videos, audios, shopping, maps, and more. The possibilities are virtually limitless.
Social bookmarking is a new term to many, but it has actually been around since 1996, when itlist was launched. Three years later, there was Backflip, followed by Blink, and it has just grown from there. Today, the most popular and well-known social bookmarking sites are delicious, simpy, and furl. Other popular social bookmarking sites include: Blinklist, Caboodle, Ma.gnolia, Dig, Stumbleupon, Netvouz, and Diigo.
Today, there are even services that will allow you to send a bookmark to multiple social bookmarking sites at one time. One such service is Onlywire. To use this service, you must first sign up and then sign up for a membership at all of the social bookmarking sites that the service utilizes.
Once this is done, you can put a small icon on the toolbar of your favorite web browser. When you find a web site that you would like to bookmark, you simply click the icon, and the service takes care of the rest. You will, of course, be able to 'tag' the bookmark with appropriate keywords before it is sent to the various social bookmarking sites.
You may wonder why you would want to do this. The reasons are as varied as the number of people on the planet. But the two main reasons are for social awareness and for business purposes. Some people who are passionate about a specific topic will use social bookmarks when they find important sites to make those sites more accessible to the general online public.
Those who own web sites use social bookmarking to get more traffic to their sites. Each time they add new content, they send another bookmark for that specific page. This results in 'fast traffic' for many, depending on the popularity of the topic.
Because social bookmarking is so popular, and used by so many, the services that are offered through the social bookmarking sites has been extended to include the ability to rate sites and to review them, or to leave comments regarding them. It is also possible to import lists that are generated through the social bookmarking sites into your own personal bookmarks. Some sites allow users to add notes, email links, to subscribe to feeds, and to even be notified via email when new bookmarks are added for specified categories or keywords.
These advances have made social bookmarking extremely powerful - not only for those who utilize the technology to find web sites, but also for those who want to get their web sites noticed by others. Whether you have your own web site or not, you will indeed find that social bookmarking is extremely useful - regardless of what your purposes may be.
The best site social bookmarking site for Internet marketers is Squidoo.
Unlike other sites, Squidoo will allow you to market your products and/or services. Squidoo will enable you to create an informative page on just about any subject you'd like. This page is known as a lens. You can create as many lenses as you'd like. However, the key to using this technique effectively is to provide your readers with helpful, informative information that will assist them in some way. You can then give them recommendations and provide them with links to your site.
When you set up your lens, you will need to set it up like you would a web page on your web site. For example, make sure you include your most relevant keyword phrase, also known as a long tail keyword, within your lens title and within the URL for better Search Engine ranking.
You will also need to make sure you 'tag' your lens with your long tail keywords, and other relevant keywords, when you set up your lens.
To ensure you get the most out of your lens, make sure you update it with fresh content at least a few times a week. In addition, place an RSS feed within the page, as this will provide some additional changing content.
To increase your traffic, create similar lenses and then link them all together. This will enable you to share your lens traffic and increase traffic to the links you're promoting.
Even if you're not interested in the whole bookmarking concept, it would be wise to learn to use social bookmarking sites. There is always the possibility that they could one day replace Search Engines, which have become extremely commercialized according to many opinions. While business owners do use social bookmarking, at this time, they are not able to purchase a higher listing, as they can in the Search Engines.
Social bookmarking sites provide a great way to not only build your credibility, but also to drive traffic to your site and increase your sales. Add this strategy to your promotions. It will be well worth your time and effort.
